  • ArtsFest 2019 is coming!

by admin on June 6, 2019

Save Saturday July 13 for a day of visual arts, music, food and drink… all on the street. Art will be hanging in downtown windows for the whole week ahead of Fest day, and there will be art activities (like sidewalk chalk, a super-size flexagon, and painting) for people of all ages in the lot beside Northern Credit Union. Drinks and a BBQ will be sold by the Lions club, and as the sun gets lower, music will start up on the stage to keep you tapping and dancing. It promises to be a great day. 10am to 9pm.

The festival is sponsored by the Durham BIA and other local sponsors, and is in planning by a great committee of able volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, click here to add your name, or contact Tim at The Colour Jar 519-369-1283. Duties might include hanging art, or on the day to help guide people, collect donations and just tidying up.

    ArtsFest call for artists

by admin on April 18, 2019

Building on the success of last year’s festival, Durham downtown businesses are supporting another celebration of arts, along with our local Lions club and other volunteers. The organizing committee is tweaking the art format, offering two options for display: both in storefront windows and also a tent vendor village! July 6-13 are the dates for store displays, and the street party is on July 13. Consider joining us by applying to be juried. Read all the details in this document:

    All things comics!

    March 8, 2019

You might not know it looking at me, but I grew up reading comics. I couldn’t resist the dramatic drawings of idealistic heroes jumping around saving people (and getting into trouble). It was like watching a movie, but at your own pace. You could imagine yourself in a big city at night, on top of […]
